Our Inspiration

Sri Sri Kishori Sharanji Maharaj Baba ji Surdas Tilpat Wale was born in Gathri Village, district paudi Garhwal, Uttarakhand in a Brahmin family. He was born blind. At the age of 7 he left his family and went to the Himalayas. There he met a sadhu and received spiritual knowledge. After long meditation, he went to Rishikesh and resumed tapasya on the bank of the River Ganges.

Baba ji then went to Vaishno Devi Shrine and from there he reached Amritsar, where he constructed a magnificent temple of Radha Ballabh. Later he also built Radha Ballabh temples in Gujarat and Vrindavan. At Vrindavan he started his journey on foot and visited many places like Tatarpur, Baghola, Jatola etc. Baba ji came to Tilpat village in 1931. He started living in a shiva temple and gave a lot of knowledge to the villagers about Radha Ballabh Sampradaya. Later with the help of the local people he constructed a beautiful temple there as well.

Baba ji was the storehouse of boundless knowledge. He used to play many musical instruments like dholak, tabla, flute, sitar, guitar etc. He was also a learned scholar of Sanskrit. Many books were written by him. One of his books ‘the hindi version of Rasa kulya tika’ shows his infinite knowledge. Every year babaji organized many akhand kirtan and Sri Maha Bhagwat saptah. He becomes famous as Baba Surdas ji Tilpat wala. He also constructed many temples in nearby villages like Dadaria, Lalpur, Mahawat pur, Ballabhgarh, Atta, Jhatta, Mangroli etc.
